The PLANHEAT project’s final event was successfully held during the 39th Euroheat & Power Congress, which took place from 6 to 8 May 2019 in Nantes, France. The PLANHEAT project was featured during a dedicated side event on 8 May under the slogan “PLANHEAT – Plan today, save tomorrow!”, where the tool prototype with all three modules was launched and PLANHEAT cities shared their stories.

Growing urbanisation means that cities and densely populated regions are in the driverā€™s seat to make the energy transition happen. Innovative heating and cooling solutions are the enabler to decarbonise cities by unlocking energy efficiency potentials and moving towards renewable heating schemes. The PLANHEAT tool supports cities to simulate their way to decarbonising its heating and cooling system by showing economically feasible scenarios. Plan today, save tomorrow!

During the first session, the PLANHEAT mapping, planning and simulation modules were presented by our developers and researchers. You can watch the “launch” of the tool again here:

The second session was dedicated to cities and local authorities and their heat planning stories. PLANHEAT city Antwerp (part of the project team) as well as PLANHEAT user city Athens shared their experiences with using the tool and the merits of heat planning for drafting decarbonisation strategies. Participants could also hear from Croatian Regions in the Heat Transition as example from the Balkans, as well as a European perspective on Heating & Cooling Strategies.
